Hello, everyone! I was referred to this wonderful site by fellow member walrusd1978.
Back in October of '03 I was with my group of friends having dinner in our college cafeteria, and we got onto the topic of animal testing. I mentioned the Red Cross tested on animals. Someone else vehemently denied the possibility, further claiming the Red Cross was a bunch of saints. I went online and easily found the info backing up my claim. I decided to put my money where my mouth was and go vegetarian. I couldn't just talk about how I was against animal cruelty and then sit down and eat a bunch of dead animals at every meal. I stopped right then and there, no weaning.
About a year and a half later, as my knowledge increased, I went vegan; I went vegetarian for moral purposes, and as I learned what milk/eggs/cheese meant for animals I was behooved to go vegan. The last thing to drop from my diet was cheese, and the last time I specifically remember having it was on my 21st birthday at a Mexican restaurant, May '05.
I left college prematurely, after 3.5 years, and started attending culinary school in San Francisco just this August. Since I left college I've been propagandizing by sharing homemade vegan food items with people at work, new classes, etc, and everyone responds well. It's pretty fun to show people they can still eat well without contributing to unnecessary animal suffering.
Thanks for having me!
