Thread: Freezing Canned Garbanzo Beans?

    Question Freezing Canned Garbanzo Beans?

I bought a huge [I think it's almost 7 pounds] can of garbanzo beans.

I don't have the ingredients I need to make hummus [which was my original plan], but I want to use some of them for something else tonight for dinner.

Do you think if I rinsed the remainder & then put them in freezer bags, that they would be alright to eat after thawing out?

    Or would they turn mushy?

i think they'll be ok, but I would only plan to use in a cooked dish afterwards.

from my experience, they don't turn mushy at all. make sure they're not too wet when you freeze them though (drain thoroughly)!

actually, most beans freeze well too, as far as i know.
