    My story!

Well, I guess it can't be called a "Vegan Story" as i'm not vegan yet. Perhaps it can be my "Veggie Story"

All my life I have had a problem with almost every kind of meat. I would eat it, but as soon as someone would tell me what it was, I would immediately stop eating it. I just hated the idea of eating an animal... it made me sad. For the last 12 years or so, the only meat I ate was an occasional piece of chicken or turkey lunchmeat but I always in the back of my mind thought "this is wrong, there is no need to be eating this" and about 2 months ago I decided I was going to try to go vegetarian. I was watching a TV show on VH1 about diets and it was talking about how Alicia Silverstone was a vegan and how healthy she felt ever since becoming one and I decided to research it and I came to find that I wanted to be vegan. Actually, more like I had to become vegan because in my heart I knew it was the right thing for me for two reasons; health (I've just discovered I have high cholesterol, so i'm sure cutting out animal products will help! Can't hurt, right? ) and for the simple fact that I love animals and I don't wanna be part of the cause for their suffering. I haven't eaten any meat since February 6th (my 19th birthday) and I feel pretty good about it. So now I am completely vegetarian and within the next couple weeks I hope... no, let's rephrase that! I *will* be 100% vegan!

    Spiff, BrokenAngel!

I look forward to not shunning you and accepting you as vegan, (therefore, 'cool kid' material). In the meantime I'll attempt to be as sympathetic as possible while cracking ovo-lacto jokes behind your back and not inviting you to the popular buffets.

    How'm I doing so far?
look at me still talking, when there's science to do
when I look out there it makes me glad I'm not you
I've experiments to run, there is research to be done
on the people who are still alive

    Welcome to VRF Angel.

Ott - you crack me up. Are you making fun of me too? Behind my back?

Nah, just supporting Amy by threatening her with passive aggressive peer pressure as long as she's ovo-lacto.

Come on lex, if I was going to make fun of you I'd start with the granny seat and harp on that for all it's worth.

... which would take a while, 'cause it's worth a lot.

That is so great!! I think that any step that a person takes in the direction of reducing animal suffering is a good one.
