Um.. what Smarties are we talking about here??

The only Smarties I know of are the candy-coated milk chocolate ones.

    What are the vegan ones?!?!

Also for those who avoid the animal colorings, the Starburst stuff has Red 40 in it, which if I'm not mistaken is from beetles or whatever? And don't forget that the other Starburst stuff has gelatin in it so be careful which ya get.

Ahh, yes... "European" Smarties are like fake M&M's that come in way more colors AND a cool cardboard tube. Here in the good ol' US of A, Smarties are tiny little chalky-textured candies that are probably nothing but sugar and artificial flavoring... they're reminiscent of Sweet Tarts to some degree, though they dissolve a lot faster and aren't as tart, and they are pastel and come in little stacks of 10 wrapped in clear cellophane.

Smarties are chalky-textured candies?? I've only ever seen or heard of the "European" Smarties here in good ol' Canada.

Ooooohhh... I haven't seen those here.

But since we're talking about vegan candy, I had these when I was leaving Chicago. Jen was kind enough to give me a bag. They were SO good and I'm not even a fan of chocolate!

I got 'em at the AR2003 conference. I stocked up on all the goodies there! I can't remember if they were at the Vegan Essentials or Pangea table...I bet both places carry them! I bet they'll have 'em at the Earthsave Conference on Saturday....

Oh oh! If they are cheap at the Earthsave conference, can you pick me up some bags and I'll pay ya back when you come visit? Chris totally went crazy for them! He's a big chocolate fiend and he only gets his fix if I go out of my way to look for vegan chocolate for him.

    Pretty please?

Of course, sweetie! How many bags would you and Chris like? Anything else? Do you like starburst and skittles, too?
