Scientists represent! I can't tell if they are talking about animal testing in general or specifically in regards to herpes.

It sounds like a step toward eliminating animal testing for herpes research, but I do think it could be more broadly applicable. It's really awesome that they were able to put together a tissue culture skin model with a neuronal cell line. This would even be better than animal models in some respects, because it could be made from (or maybe already is) all human cells.

I hate when vegans say categorically all animal science is flawed. It isn't.

Slightly o/t. Also, I recently had a herpes sore in my nose - first ever - and OMG it hurt. I bought Abreva, which I'm sure is hella not vegan but damn it cleared it up in one day. (Well, enough that it no longer hurt.)
