From the same school that 30DayVeganDave attends, we now have this:

Orion Online (http://media.www.orion-online.net/media/storage/paper889/news/2006/05/10/Opinion/Vegetarians.Taste.Like.Chicken-1923747.shtml?sourcedomain=www.orion-online.net&MIIHost=media.collegepublisher.com)

Vegetarians: Taste like chicken

The world these days is centered on political correctness. We are expected to pick around the sensitivities of everyone, down to the last gay Mexican midget. Or homosexual Latino little person. Or is it queer Hispanic dwarf? The intricacies are enough to scare anyone into avoiding the subject entirely.

There is such a thing as being too accommodating, and of the groups people baby, there is one that stands out in my mind that needs to be stripped of its self-righteousness. No, not the sexually diverse short people native to the southern hemisphere - I'm talking about vegetarians.

ad nauseam...it's this nasty person's last article, so she must be a graduating senior. At first I thought it was satire, but in the end I had to decide that she was just crazy and mean and not a very good writer.

As wonderfully written as anything Anne Coulter's done lately. Who knew she was doing the whole "undercover at a university" thing.

Frankly, without people like this, I'd have no one to mock. I hope she has a long and fruitful career :D

opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.

but really, I guess that was meant to be offensive, since it was offensive to various groups, not really worth much thought.

i didn't find it offensive... too mundane to be offensive. it was just not inspired, regardless of whether it was satire or not.

I meant offensive as in satire I guess. So I meant it was supposed to be satire, but was just dumb, as everyone else noted.

Wow, that's just really sad. In so many ways. :( I think an article like this could be funny, but this one is just the same old stuff people actually say and think about veg*ns, without an interesting spin on it or anything. And I imagine a bunch of Chico State students will read it and think things like "yeah, we have canines to chew MEAT! Take that, stupid vegetarians!"

I think in general I've got a good sense of humor and can laugh at veg*n jokes, but this article just depresses me.

Hey, there are comments on the article now. Three when I looked... all rational, thoughtful responses, and all pro-veg! :sunny:

I didn't realize you could comment. I added one pimping vegchico. It looks like they need to be approved, so it may show up later.

It amuses me that the student paper website is a million times better than teh Chico ER's.

Hmm, it's a satire? I just sent her an email that said:

Even if she's a veg trying to be funny, she failed miserably.
