I seem to recal a similar discussion on VP not too long ago. Several people mentioned that they had great results with Giovanni (http://www.giovannicosmetics.com) products. They have two that look like what you'd want: Glam Traxx and Styling Glue. I'm not sure which would best suit you but my guess is the Styling Glue.

Giovanni products are vegan and organic.

I used to use Aveda's Self Control stick (http://www.aveda.com/templates/products/sp.tmpl?ngextredir=1&CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY6155&PRODUCT_ID=PROD5831) when I had short spiky hair to spike it up where I wanted it. Now that my hair is a little longer I use their Control paste (http://www.aveda.com/templates/products/sp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY6155&PRODUCT_ID=PROD6054) to stick my hair where I want it. The stick is a little stiffer (maybe better for mohawks) but still light and the paste is a little softer and lighter, I love it.

I don't remember how much I paid since I bought them in canada but they last a long time so it's worth it.

ditto what petaske'kwe' said, except my hair was never quite short enough to be "spiky," so i'm not sure about the mohawk-capabilities. it was quite short, but not spike-able.

anyway, my point was that i have used both aveda's self-control stick and control paste and i would definitely endorse them. :)
