C.C. Baird, the largest and most notorious Class B animal dealer in the United States, must not be allowed to continue selling animals for use in experimentation.

USDA investigations have shown that Baird purchased animals from people with false addresses and non-existent driver’s license numbers, housed dogs in crowded, filthy conditions, and handled dogs cruelly. At Baird’s 1997 trial, the USDA asked that his dealer’s license be permanently revoked, but the judge merely fined Baird $5,000 and sent him back to his shady trade.

Newly released photographs of dead, dying, diseased, and injured dogs said to be taken at Martin Creek Kennels (www.lcanimal.org/invest/baird.htm <http://www.lcanimal.org/invest/baird.htm> ) are just the latest example of Baird’s wanton disregard for the animals and the federal Animal Welfare Act (AWA). Nonetheless, we have been told that Baird is still in business despite the concentration camp-like conditions uncovered at his facility.

Please send a polite e-mail message and/or letter to the United States Department of Agriculture (the agency under which Baird is licensed and which is investigating the latest allegations against him) to ask that it immediately suspend Baird’s activities:
