View Full Version : Rescue work

Anyone else here do rescue? I'm pretty involved in it here in NYC. I thought we could have a thread to share stories-triumphs, failures, frustrations.

Currently I have three foster cats-two through a rescue and one I rescued from the street. I had one other but he died a couple of weeks ago. For me that is the hardest part-losing them despite your best efforts. This cat was FIV+ and had been in and out of the vet since Christmas and he crashed suddenly and died. He has little hope of ever being adopted and I believed he would be a permanent foster (kind of like an adoption except the rescue pays the vet bills-the vet bills being the reason I wouldn't adopt him outright.)

On a more positive note, I went to a workshop yesterday held by the city shelter system about the changes being implemented to increase adoptions and placement. If things happen the way the director of animal care and control said they will, it will be really good and more animals will be saved.
