View Full Version : The old myths are shattering, studies now show : Masturbation is good for you!

We already know a vegan diet sharply reduces all cancer risks, so what does this new study say for those who are already vegan and masturbate frequently? This should come as a slight consolation to all males going through a slow/no sex period so time to celebrate!

Here is the original story (http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99993942 ) but this one seems to have the best headline (http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0600uk/content_objectid=13185969_method=full_siteid=50082 _headline=--Handy-tip-to-tackle-prostate-cancer-name_page.html) .

Happy reading and such, :D
Georgie

*clears throat loudly*

let's be a bit more inclusive, bub. i'm not going to get into how often i masturbate, but i can assure you that it's probably as often, if not more often, than most males. when most women are ovulating you can't keep us from having sex with either ourselves or whoever else happens to be around (ahh... the wonders of evolution). and, i have a higher sex drive than every guy i've ever been with.

the difference between women and men is that most women don't start mastubating until their 20s, while men start yanking like there's no tomorrow the second puberty hits. there's lots of reasons for this... mostly socialization kind of crap. i could talk forever about this, since i majored in women's studies in college, and i used to study pornography and the history of sex in western culture. but, suffice to say, a lot of women get off with themselves as much as men, and i just wanted to represent. ;)

Doesn't that just suck? You'd think they'd appreciate it/be able to keep up, but... sigh... ;)

I don't think he was trying to slight us ladies, VeganUU, just (as Emiloid pointed out) that we don't have prostates and that's what the study was about. Ahh, well. Um, "represent!", or, whatever.

VeganUU

I actually responded to georgiemcfly's post before reading the actual article, which (I now know) does deal with prostates. Oops. I was mostly responding to the belief (of some) that women don't masturbate, have lower sex drives than men, and/or don't like sex. It's tiring. I have to wonder why no one has studied to impact of orgasm on ovarian or breast cancer in women? Until recently, we didn't even know what the clitoris looked like (internally) or how it worked (we still don't know much, actually) because no one had ever bothered to research the clitoris before. Some think it's because science is such a male dominated field, and the men were intimidated by the fact that the average flaccid clitoris (internal and external) is longer than a flaccid penis. :o

Anyway, I appreciate the interesting article. And yes, Herbi, it does suck. :umm:

Maybe I should stop listening to my doctor when she tells me it's normal for me (a woman) to have a low sex drive?

Emiloid
07-17-2003, 07:13 PM
By normal, they probably mean average. Of course, the average isn't necessarily ideal... it's just not unusual. I think there is another thread (somewhere) that discusses this, but I think the important thing is not to stress about it--stress only makes it harder to relax & enjoy physical contact/sex. It's like picking at your face to try to clear it up--it's just not gonna happen! I guess this is kind of a lame answer... and unfortunately I have to go now..... Anyway, San, remember you are definitely not the only one! Besides, "high" and "low" sex drives are all relative. What really matters is how you feel about your sex drive. Not, should you care, or how you compare to other people, or what others (boyfriend, etc) think you should be like, but how do you actually feel about it?

Gotta go.....

I say he should've just shut the heck up and enjoyed it, cuz a lot of people would love to have that problem..........hell, *I'd* love to have that problem right now. For the time being, it looks like I'll just have to practice cancer prevention for my non-existent prostate. ;)

I'm just glad two of them live in Chicago, and there's going to be a meetup soon! :p
Seriously, though, from my limited experience, my drives have been the opposite of my ex-gfs'. One of them was ready and eager to go more often than I was, and the next was all for it during the first few months, and not very much "into" it after.

pBot- LOL!!

I also have tended to have a higher sex drive than most of my exs, as has one of my female vegan friends. I definitely say make a go w/ the campaign slogan: "Go vegan-- the chicks are all nymphos!"

Then again, all the guys Ive dated have been omni... and do we really want to have slackers in bed to convert to veganism just so we can sleep w/ them? (Not that Im advocating against anyone becoming a vegan, regardless (or as President Bush says, irregardless) of the reason.) From the sound of it, current male vegans arent getting much action, and therefore, it seems, would be ecstatic to have as much action as possible ;o)

QrkyMoon

Hmm... something I just thought of... perhaps its the fact that the men that Ive dated have been omni that causes them to not be up (hehe) to the task...

After listening to you guys, it almost sounds like I missed a turn somewhere. My sexual appetite has actually decreased :umm: since I became vegan; although, I think it has more to do with growing older. That’s right, at the ripe age of 23 I have already peaked. I read a study once that said guys peak at 18-19 and women peak at 30ish. One more of nature’s jokes I guess. :) I’m not complaining mind you, I think life got a lot better when my brain started thinking for me again. :D

i think im fifthing that.. there definitely seems to be a pattern here. haha, that slogan is great. maybe cholesterol somehow blocks female orgasm? i have no idea.. we need some scientific research on this. men peak at 18 and women at 30? now thats just a cruel joke........

herbi
08-03-2003, 03:33 PM
Phytoestrogen Schmytoestrogen... actually it's (far smaller quantities of) testosterone that ramp up "horniness" (to use the technical term) in women as well as men. One line of reasoning behind the whole "sexual peak at 35" or whatever it is is that with the flurry of female hormones of the prime child-havin' years over with, the background testosterone finally gets to have its way. But judging from personal observation, I go with a different theory more based on sociology than biology. Men "peak" early because everyone is strong and full of energy and rarin' to go when they're 18, and pretty much everyone loses a little of that as they get older. Women only APPEAR to come into their own sexually at a much later age because it takes most of them 15 extra years to get over all the psychological bullcrap that inhibits them. ("Nice girls don't," etc) They're sexy when they're older because they're finally self-confident, that's all. Ladies, I encourage you to skip ahead to the good part! :)

Good boy! Though Ive noticed that its really society as a whole that has been pointing fingers, and not just guys.

You know, Ive also noticed that about physical appearances. Girls are positive that they arent ever pretty/ thin/ other positive physical attributes enough for guys. And then they get pissed b/c guys are so superficial... yet from my experiences guys really dont care as much about that stuff as girls do (in regards to how they look, not how the guy looks) (or am I wrong?). Guys actually can be attracted to someone based upon their personality :o. Yet girls have decided that its guys whove put all the stress of being perfect on them... when its really themselves and other girls who are the main offenders.

Same thing w/ sex. Girls are sure that its guys who are
"oppressing" us. But most every fair minded, semi-liberal in social views, guy (younger generations... older school, over the age of 50 doesnt count) Ive met have the same feelings as Adams.

Does that make sense? Has anyone else run into that?

When the lure of rockin' sex escapes your grasp, I suppose there's something that doesn't. Hahaha.

Vegans shouldn't masturbate since a kitten dies every time you do. :p

It makes us mean, though not our worst abuse of muse, and in zero population growth [or not ] doesn't work well as recreation - it's procreation. Is masturbation the reason why males are considered better "abstract thinkers"? If we are to replace ourselves and no more, then this requires but two successful attempts by a male in the course of his entire life. To obsess about the unlikely is the game the rich would have us play, no?

"Save your seed for thirty days, oh my son" exhorts the necrimonicon, a treatise on evil , before unleashing demons. This refers to the depletion of libidi - our base energy that can be manipulated into any "outcome". Certainly sounds a lot like muse, or delusion, this libido, though other cultures have a more spiritual defininition.

Using up preciousness [the function of the will to live].

I think to hurry kids into sex by placing condom machines in highschools is profound evil, but this nightmare pales in comparison to others.

Jesus told his gang of ex-fishermen to fish men and that to look with lust was the same sin as adultery. The Prophet Elisha went about declaring, "why has everybody got their hand on their crotch? Gird up your loins!". Omanism signed end times. The people obviously did not believe in the rules any more if they were up to that again.
Really, we shouldn't mess with the difference between eyes open and eyes shut. A study on the habit of imagining your sex partner to be someone else found it 50% probable. We've got to imagine how to stop the transportation of ... say ... packaging.
Zero population growth - that everybody would have but for immigration , calls for housing stops, rural cleanup and a move to warmer, more developed cities ; expansionism reversed. Why burn stuff. If your mate left with your two kids you wouldn't be allowed to start a new batch of kids with your new mate, sort of thing.

I think yoga is just as odd as masturbation, but sexual intercourse without the intent to have a child is acting out no matter how you look at it. Sad to say, but to realize that you are merely making another life may take the heat out of it for most of us victims of mass media.

There's enough of us now we could stand naked like penguins all winter but someone keeps looking down, and not for rugrats. How ridiculous, grotesque and\or evil. Probably just a rumour.

Adam and Eve's "eyes were opened and they were ashamed" at all the goofy tittering and groping they had gotten up to while sugar buzzed on fruits - to pick fruit was ancient hebrew slang for having sex.
