View Full Version : The matriarco/bluemango Portland trip

07-03-2008, 05:20 PM
Hey, Portland VRFers. bluemango and I will be in Portland in August with our mother and brother. I'll be there from thi 14th through the 23rd and everyone else will be there the 17th through the 25th, I think (bluemango?).

It'd be great to meet up with whoever's around. Also, I could use some tips on good, cheap places to stay for the three days I'll be there on my own.

 I'll be around!

August you say...hmmm.

I heard the Amtrak rates between Chico and Salem are real good. Not that I'm checking or anything... :p

You're a wonderful person, gladcow. Mr Q have been thinking about a road trip in August before school starts for him, so let us plan and think, think and plan. We'd love to meet up with some VRFers.

Since everyone insists on coming to Portland instead of Seattle, even though Seattle is far superior, I suppose I will once again drive to Portland just to meet a VRFer IRL.

Wanna come with me, MamaQ? :D

Well, Miso, the terminus of our semi-intended road trip was Seattle...but nothing has been decided yet. And I don't want to hijack the thread.

Hmmm. If I'm up visiting family in Eugene, maybe I could swing by. Hmmm.

Unless my plans for taking over the world come togethor that day me and the family should be down to hang out.

I could probably do that Miso, I would love to see everyone. If its the weekend of the 15th right??

07-08-2008, 10:20 PM
Yay! I have time off, so I can make it to a meetup!

ETA: Not I - we! Mr Q and I, that is.

Wow! I didn't expect to be able to meet so many VRFers.

Imagine my surprise when I saw my name in a thread title! :)

I am so excited for our trip to Portland, and I can't wait to meet all you VRFers!! You'll also get to meet our mom and brother. I think mama mango and I are getting in to portland on the 17th and leaving the 24th, and matriarco's schedule is slightly different. It's the first vacation we've been on since we drove to Atlanta when I was 12 to see our uncle play Jesus in the Passion Play... I'm thinking this will be much more fun!!!

T-shirt idea! Just "verfer." in lowercase print on the front. Talk about a conversation starter. :)

ooooh

An update: It looks like the matriarco/blumango clan Portland trip is being cancelled, or at least postponed, for a bunch of reasons. I hope I get to meet all you Northwest VRFers someday.

oh, sad :(

I hope it works out again another time. :(

07-21-2008, 02:33 PM
Don't worry, Climbo. I'll still be out of town. Possibly the whole remainder of your time at 1340.

eta: Ok. I just saw Dandelion's post about veganshawn and realized your post was probably in relation to that.

I hope it works out again another time. :(

Me, too. We were all looking forward to it. Someday.

07-21-2008, 04:35 PM
Oh so sad! I was looking forward to meeting some midwesterners!

Mr Q and I are still planning our PNW pilgrimage, however! I've been quiet about it--but it's still going to happen. Our travel dates are 8/9 through 8/16.

I know we're going to meetup with gladcow et famille at some point on her turf and Miso and Mamaquilla et familles on their turf in Seattle, but we're still open on PDX, Eugene, and other points north of here.

I feel so out of my element - I have a handle on travel and more importantly, dining, in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York, but nothing about PNW.

Do any of you have travel agent or tour guide tendencies? ;)

ETA: Where is MissLovely these days?

Very sorry to hear the news, matriarco. :(

quagga, MissLovely is taking a summer break from the computer, but she occasionally checks in. Might be worth a phone call.

What do you need help with, travel-planning wise? I'm sure we can help. We can schedule your every meal, and you can fit any other activities in between. :silly:
